Catching up with Naomi from the Gin Sessions.

Updated: Mar 27, 2019

With a new website and new events + more exciting news to be announced soon.

I’ve been pretty quiet on The Gin Sessions front over the last few months, the winter often has that effect, I kind of go into cosy hibernation mode. Nevertheless I’ve been far from quiet on the gin front. I’ve started a new job working for a drinks consultancy and looking after the distribution of a premium gin in overseas markets. So I’ve been spending my time chatting to some really interesting folk from all corners of the globe about one of my favourite gins (I love my job!)

My gin tour through Europe

I’ve been touring around Europe visiting a whole host of different Gin Festivals and living in Gothenburg for the last 6 weeks, eating kalles kaviar for breakfast, and trying to learn Swedish. The eating was the easy part, trying to learn a whole new language on the other hand at my grand old year has proved more challenging than I initially thought! So the reality is I’ve been working on my Swenglish...

My new job has seen me at The Copenhagen Gin Festival, which after my life in event management, was a real treat to be on the other side tasting the gin. They had 80 different gin producers in an old tram shed, what a venue. I had the pleasure of working alongside Icelandic Eagle Gin and Skully.

One of my favourite gins from this event was the unique Skully Wasabi, green in colour but strong in flavour, I sampled this gin with a fiery Ginger Beer which complimented the wasabi horseradish flavour of the gin. I love a classic G&T but always love seeing how brands are pushing the boundaries with flavours and serves.

What I learnt after two days of pouring Brockmans Gin in Copenhagen is that the Danes love their gin, they are fun and chatty by nature and a perfect audience for talking through botanicals, flavours and perfect serves.

I’ve been to the Great British Gin Festival at Bournemouth and Brighton. I loved this event as I got to see Dan Heath who worked for us at the Bristol Gin Session, he was the guy full of beard and full of chat!

Right now I’m currently at Gothenburg airport on my way back to the UK, and a week of work before I head to Edinburgh for the weekend for a jolly. Don’t worry though, it will still be gin filled, I’m planning a trip to the Edinburgh Distillery to learn about and sample their incredible range.

What's next for Gin Sessions

Life is busy, life is fun. I’m working on some exciting Gin Sessions for 2019. We’ve also been busy working behind the scenes and got ourselves a new website to start our event season in style. So watch this space for what comes next.

Hope to see you at a Gin Session soon!
